Job Context
- An apex trade organization of Bangladesh looking for a Head of Research and Development who will be leading the R&D Department and reporting to Secretary General. We need dedicated, self-motivated, and proactive professional who have experience working in reputed organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct study, research, surveys, training courses and prepare policy and advocacy papers on matters of trade, commerce, industry, services/sectors, environment, quality management and matters relating to National Budget in cooperation with related organizations and strengthen FBCCI’s Research Division.
- Collect, maintain and disseminate trade, quality management & environment related information, data, technology, laws, regulations and best practices.
- Establish linkage with Associations, Chambers and other trade promotional organizations in Bangladesh and co-ordinate and promote their activities.
- Review regional and bilateral trade agreements, FTAs in the wake of role-played by international financial and development institutes including matters related to WTO, UNCTAD & others.
- Prepare speeches / Talking points for FBCCI & submit recommendations and relevant papers/ working papers for the Seminars/ Meetings scheduled at home and abroad.
- Develop policy and recommendations and closely coordinate with the relevant national and international organizations.
- Examine and interpret trade policies and negotiating positions with regard to WTO agreements, FTAs, RTAs, BTAs and other trading agreements.
- Coordinate and cooperate in all issues and events so as to function efficiently and effectively.
- Perform independent research for each assigned study to gain a deeper understanding of the condition and any study-specific criteria.
- Keep superiors and subordinate well informed on all pertinent issues and matters.

Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Management, Finance and Banking, International Relations from any reputed Public and Private University.
- PHD will be preferred.
- Substantial experience in trade-related research/studies/project management/policy advocacy/publication etc.
- Persons having Publications, Journals are encouraged to apply.
Experience Requirements
- At least 12 year(s)
Additional Requirements
- Age at least 45 years
- Minimum 12 years of experience preferably in academic and/or research institutions, of which 3 years should be as Research Fellow or a comparable position (educational qualification requirement may be relaxed for a candidate having experience in trade related organization for at least 7 years).
- Expert in policy advocacy, trade facilitation, local and international trade, industrial policy, SME policy, commercial/ trade negotiation, national strategic plan, international trade, banking and financial issues, trade policy review mechanism, fiscal & monetary policy, budget, WTO issues, project formulation and implementation etc.
- Expert in Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of data availability and sources.
- Excellent analytical ability, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, negotiation skill.
- An aptitude for team work and ability to guide junior researchers.
